EFTIHIA

My story with “Scricciolo” started in 80’s. Actually my father had a gift shop in the center of Athens, and he was always looking for nice and special things. So, during one of his journeys to Italy, he found “Scricciolo”, and after some time he became the exclusive representative for Greece. After some time I started to “work” with him in the shop and of course I met the three artists. We mostly were in contact with Toni Moretto, whom we liked very much not only as an artist. We worked together almost 15 years and we had a really nice cooperation. Occasionally we made some special orders according to what a client wanted, and they had no objection to do so even though they were not in their standard production. My father always wanted to have pieces that someone couldn’t find anywhere else so, he ordered the Carriage with four horses, which they normally made with two, and he said to Moretto to make it. He called it “Imperial Carriage”! They were really creative and very talented gentlemen. Unfortunately they stopped the “Scricciolo” and unfortunately the situation in Greece changed, not to mention that you couldn’t find hand made works of Art - everything is industrialized. I also don’t have the shop anymore but I will never forget the years we worked together. I want to mention here that I felt really really sorry about Toni Moretto’s loss. He left his “prints” through those unique figurines, immortality is his! That in a few words is my story with “Scricciolo”I consider fortunate those who have even one piece of “Scricciolo”, there are unique for me.Thanks to Jochen and Ron who try to save and preserve the work of these three artist and bring together people with the same taste.
